General Order of Mars Hill Event Activities
The following is a general outline for a Mars Hill Acts 17 event. The time allocations may change depending on the details of a particular event. Time will be made for all pre-approved Youth Time presentations, even if that means cutting back on the live music or game time.
4:30 – Registration and Sign-in Tables open
5:00 – Opening Music and 1st Bible Challenge. Loud fun, Christian music (live band); an opening prayer by a youth; a welcoming time and/or activity; and 1st Bible challenge introducing the theme of the night with scripture.
5:30 - Game Time. A group activity or game that encourages youth to mingle or do something goofy to "break the ice" and get comfortable being at Mars Hill Acts 17.
Note: During game time, the Mars Hill Acts 17 Director (or delegated volunteer) may lead a meeting and prayer with all youth leaders aside to discuss the message topic of the night and coordinate youth leader participation during prayer time. This provides youth leaders opportunity to ask questions and learn what to expect.
6:00 – Dinner Time and Activities. Blessing over the food by a youth; serve and eat dinner; celebrate those with recent birthdays; pass out rewards (such as a Mars Hill Acts 17 T-shirt) to youth who brought first time visitors; play a messy or wacky game with limited youth volunteers, often referred to as the "Tarp Game."
6:30 – Music and 2nd Bible Challenge. Loud fun, Christian music (live band) and 2nd challenge on the theme of the night with scripture.
7:00 - Youth Time! This is the time for youth and/or youth groups to share Christ in the form of any presentation that has been pre-approved by the Mars Hill Acts 17 Director.
7:30 –Worship Music. Contemporary worship music (live band); a 3rd challenge/scripture on the theme of the night may or may not be presented at this time.
8:00 – Message. A guest speaker provides a Bible-based message that supports the theme of the night to complement the previous challenges and scripture presented earlier.
8:30 - Commitment/Prayer Time and Worship Music. A general time of prayer and worship; the Gospel message and fundamental "Roman Road" scripture are presented along with an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; a final challenge is presented to summarize the theme of the night and present a challenge to take to the Lord in prayer. Youth leaders are encouraged to be available and support their youth in prayer, as needed.
8:50 – Closing Prayer, Announcements, and Music. Includes reciting the Mars Hill Acts 17 motto found in this document and a closing prayer by a youth.
9:00 - Adjourn
