Where does the name “Mars Hill” come from?

The name “Mars Hill” comes from Acts 17:16-34 (KJV).  It is the precise location where the apostle Paul addressed the city council of Athens.   The people of Athens believed they were well educated, enjoyed the latest new trends, and thought they had all the answers.  Paul challenged their humanistic views much like those in our society today.  Paul used their altar to the “Unknown God” to teach them about the one true God and salvation through Jesus Christ.

Acts 17:22 (KJV):  Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
